Yaphet Jackman, a Brooklyn born, Guyanese bred Cinematographer, spent his formative years in his parents’ original home of Guyana, South America. Yaphet earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Guyana as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Film from Ohio University. He is a freelance, Daytime Emmy-nominated cinematographer, director, business owner, and a published author. Since moving to the United States, Yaphet has worked on a number of films, television shows, music videos, and creative projects. His latest work includes projects for ALLBLK, formerly Urban Movie Channel, and the Prada Foundation project with Ryan Trecartin, a renowned American Artist.
In 2019, Yaphet officially registered his Film Production and Consulting Company, Bent Street Films, a name inspired by the colorful culture and characters of his childhood neighbourhood. That same year, he created and hosted the first annual 592 48 Hour Film Challenge in Guyana. Alongside his many projects, he also serves as the Print Traffic Manager for the Third Horizon Film Festival.
