PROJECT CURRENTLY TITLED: Art By any means necessary

Art: By Any Means Necessary (Temporary title) is a short documentary that tells the tale of two Art institutions determined to have its doors open despite the challenges of its country’s political turmoil. Artists Institute, formally Cine Institute in Jacmel, Haiti is currently run by its former graduate students. Abandoned by its Hollywood celebrities that once supports the school during the backdrop of political turmoil, Artists Institute now functions as a resource center and continues to incubate artists.

Just a 2 hour plane ride from Haiti sits Centre des Arts et de la Culture based in the middle of Guadeloupe. Considered a French Department, Guadeloupe Artists has been fighting with the French officials to complete the structure of the center. Millions of Euros and almost a decade later, the building is abandoned. In true revolution style, a collective artists took over the building and created a fantastic art exhibit for the community. Intersecting both stories, Art: By Any Mean Necessary briefly captures Artists’ determination to create and have their spaces.
